PATRIOT fans have discovered why they have been in such an rush to buy tickets ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Bulldogs.
The NRL’s Sunday Ticket sales figures have risen to the point where they are outstripping the Bulldogs for the most seats.
The NRL is currently selling tickets for the game at the MCG, which is on sale for just $2.50.
Fans are still able to purchase tickets from the NRL website and from the ticket office at ANZ Stadium, but they are selling out before the season is out.
One fan told News.org.au the Bulldogs have been holding the seats back from the start of the season so they can sell out for the Bulldogs game.
“We’ve just been sold out for both of them, but we’re going to get them out now,” he said.
“I think we’re on track for a massive season sellout.”
It’s been a massive wait but it’s going to be amazing.
“This is the biggest ticket sale in the history of the game and I’m just so happy that we’re not waiting for a new stadium to come along.
I’m so glad to be part of the NRL’s biggest and most ambitious sale in my career.”
Read more about the Bulldogs here: Bulldogs fans will be sold out of season tickets by April 4, 2018: The Bulldogs are the only club in the NRL with a season ticket base of over 3,000.
It is understood they have already sold out about 80 per cent of their season ticket holders.
But if fans do not buy their season tickets before April 4 they will not be able to attend the game.
It is believed the Bulldogs will not need to sell out to accommodate the increased number of fans in the area.
A statement from the Bulldogs said the club was not yet prepared to confirm how many seats would be sold, but the club is encouraging fans to visit their website and the ticket offices to make their purchases.
An NRL spokesperson said they were still assessing the situation and would share their thoughts as soon as they could.
